From Bayonne to Baytown- Bayonne to Host Benefit Concert for Baytown, Texas on September 22
Mayor Jimmy Davis announced that the City of Bayonne will hold a concert on Friday, September 22, 2017 to benefit the community of Baytown, Texas, which has been hit hard by Hurricane Harvey. Mayor Davis said, “From Bayonne to Baytown will be the theme of the event. Like Bayonne, Baytown has a history as an industrial city with a petrochemical industry. Like Bayonne, Baytown is known for its bridge and its location near a big city.” Mayor Davis continued, “Our administration has already been in touch with Baytown to discuss our offer of help. We look forward to doing whatever we can to assist the people of Baytown, who have suffered from severe flooding since Harvey made landfall in Texas.”
The fundraising event will take place on the lower level of DiDomenico-16th Street Park on Friday, September 22, from 6:00PM to 10:00PM.
Local musician Terry Young is recruiting musical talent to offer their services for the concert. Bands will play at the amphitheater that is the site of Bayonne’s Summer Sounds concert series. The Bayonne Economic Opportunity Foundation (BEOF) will act as the recipient of tax-deductible donations to assist the people of Baytown. The BEOF, Bayonne’s designated Community Action Agency, will disburse funds to Baytown following the concert. Admission to the concert will be based on a free-will offering. No donation will be considered too large or too small. Checks for admission should be made payable to the BEOF, with “Baytown” written in the memo portion of the check. Your cancelled check or bank record of the check will be considered your proof of donation for tax purposes. Donations will also be accepted on a link that the BEOF will establish for online contributions for Baytown. Please go to beof.org.betasites.soundst.com and follow the link to the Baytown donation form.
The City of Bayonne would welcome event sponsors for the benefit concert.
To inquire about sponsorships, please contact Recreation Supervisor Pete Amadeo at 201-858-6129. Local vendors who are willing to donate their profits to the BEOF for the Bayonne to Baytown project should contact Mr. Amadeo to apply to participate in the September 22 event.
Mayor Davis concluded, “I look forward to seeing the people of Bayonne supporting our brothers and sisters in Baytown at the concert on September 22.” Additional details will be announced as plans develop.
