DESCRIPTION:Mayor Jimmy Davis announced that the Bayonne Public Library is showing ‘Can You Ever Forgive Me?’ in its summer afternoon film series on Wednesday\, July 10\, at 1:00 p.m.\, in the O’Connor Gallery on the second floor of the library. The building is located at 31st street and Avenue C. \nThe films to be presented include recent movies intended for adults\, plus a selection of children’s’ movies that are not just for kids! The films intended primarily for children will be shown on July 31st and throughout the month of August. Youngsters attending the children’s films must be accompanied by an adult. No children will be admitted for the adult selections. \n‘Can You Ever Forgive Me?’ (rated R) is a biographical film based on the book of the same name by Forger Lee Israel. Starring Melissa McCarthy and Richard E. Grant in Academy Award-nominated roles as Israel and drug dealer Jack Hock\, respectively\, the movie follows Israel as she forges letters from dead authors and playwrights as a way to enhance her failing writing career.

DESCRIPTION:Mayor Jimmy Davis announced that the annual Sidewalk Sale will take place on Broadway on Thursday\, July 18; Friday\, July 19; and Saturday\, July 20.\n\nThe sidewalk sale is open to any business on Broadway that would like to put out information\, have free activities\, or sell merchandise at low prices\, either outside or inside the stores.  Broadway businesses interested in participating in the sidewalk sale should call the Bayonne Urban Enterprise Zone/Special Improvement District (UEZ/SID) at 201-858-6357.  The UEZ/SID office would like to take pictures of participating businesses\, so that they can post photos on their website and on various social media platforms throughout the week.\n\nMayor Davis said\, “The City of Bayonne encourages all retailers and business owners to set up tables or displays outside their establishments during the sale\, so that new residents and customers will learn what you have to offer.”\n\nDuring the three days of the sale\, special free activities will take place in front of the RWJ Barnabas Medical Center\, which is located between 23rd and 24th Streets at 519 Broadway.\n\nOn Thursday\, July 18\, by Barnabas Medical Center\, there will be face painting from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.\, caricature drawing from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.\, and balloon sculptures from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.\n\nFriday\, July 19\, will feature a Carvel free kids cup giveaway at the Carvel Ice Cream at 478 Broadway from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.  Face painting will take place in front of Barnabas from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.\n\nAnother round of special free activities will take place by Barnabas on Saturday\, July 20.  Balloon sculpture will be available from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.   The Eldad Tarmu Trio will perform from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Mr. Tarmu\, a jazz musician\, plays the vibraphone.  He has performed in more than 25 countries.\n\nFor more information\, please call the UEZ/SID office at 201-858-6357.

DESCRIPTION:Mayor Jimmy Davis and Library Director JP Porcaro are happy to announce that the Bayonne Free Public Library will be hosting a robotics program on Monday\, July 22\, 2019\, at 1:30 p.m. in the library’s gallery.\n\nThis program is for children ages 9 to 12\, no exceptions.  In this exciting new program\, robotics and coding will become elementary. Ozobots are tiny smart robots. The children will be able to create different landscapes and games\, and will learn to code for the Ozobots. This STEM-inspired program opens the door to computer science. The children will learn OzoBlocky\, a block-based visual editor program.\n\nRegistration for the program will begin on Monday\, July 15\, and will continue to Friday\, July 19\, or until the program is filled\, whichever comes first.  There is space for only 30 children.  They must be Bayonne residents.  Registration will take place in the Children’s Room.
